Let the Tweets begin!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I MAY be crazy, but I've just elected to TRY the Twitter-universe. Wish me luck, but it was this afternoon's AMAZING first piano rehearsal of "Norma" here in Salzburg that inspired me - I wished I had the way to telling everyone right away what I was feeling. So on the advice of several friends, I came home and "tweeted" my first "tweet":

"Singing in thirds with Edita Gruberova for the first time today = heavenly!!! Can't wait for the concerts! (9th and 14th)"

So, let the games begin! If you feel so inclined, search "JoyceDiDonato" - I'll be there!

(and truly - it was heavenly! She is a MIRACLE and beyond inspiring!!!)

Boy that was a FAST vacation. Hope you're rested - you certainly earned it what with all the various accidents, surgeries, productions (Regie, traditional, heavy costumed - although I thought the Paris one was rather flattering - and otherwise), labor strife and extra performances (looks like the Milan audience made out pretty well after all - you're Rosina is quite the treat and we can only hope to see her again).

Hadn't mentioned it earlier but congratulations on the Echo. It will be interesting for you to be on the same stage with JK especially as we're hardly likely to see you as Ortrud to his Lohengrin any time soon. (Last year we actually really struggled deciding between the Munich Lohengrin and you're ROH Rosina but in the event the latter turned out - at least of those of us lucky enough to be in the audience - rather remarkably.)

The Norma should of course be fantastic and will no doubt be enhanced by the presence of the great Maestro Furlanetto. Enjoy.

We'll be "following" the tweets very closely.

Dear Joyce:
I think you will enjoy Twitter - once you get into it, it's a wonderful journey.
As for Norma, can't wait to read your insights of Adalgisa, my all time favorite opera character.

Ooops, I hope Yankeediva won't become unfaithful to her bloggers because of Twitter ;-)) I'm gonna spend a day in Salzburg tomorrow (just 90 minutes away from Munich) and I will bring along some sunshine. Would be nice to spot you in one of Salzburg's outstanding cafés or at the famous "Triangel".

Gruberova must be 63, right? Quite amazing indeed. I don't think she sings much, if at all, in the US.

Gruberova is 63, will be 64 this year I think.

She sings a lot, just in Europe, sometimes in Japan. Her schedule is still full til 2013, she was singing in the Met as well a lot of times, just long time ago.

She is a miracle..a wonder.

Edita Gruberova is a miracle indeed. She regularly performs here in Munich in 2 fantastic productions of Christof Loy (Joyce, this rings a bell to you - "your" director in Geneva): "Lucrezia Borgia" and "Roberto Devereux". The way she not only sings but acts in these two operas is absolutely amazing. There is an interesting link, if you like: http://operntv.eviscomedia.com/media.1040.html
She has a large group of fans in Barcelona, too, who follow her wherever she performs.
I'm so much looking forward to seeing E.G. and Joyce TOGETHER on stage!

Klassikfan, which performance will you see?
