Gratitude - Day 116

Gratitude - Day 116
I'm grateful for literature that brought us such a wonderful character, wound into such a beautiful story, told across the centuries, never losing its power to move and teach.

Joyce, I'm sure you listened to some of the available recordings of "I Capuleti e I Montecchi" (C&M). I KNOW you do not talk about your colleagues here, but still could you tell which recording you prefer?

I have the one with Sills, Baker and Gedda and I love it.

I also notice there is no DVD of C&M. Is there a realistic hope that this current show (with Anna, you and Matthew) might get released on DVD one day? Thanks and all the best

Thank you for the good wishes, and Dolcevita - I'd LOVE to hear the Baker recording - I can't believe I didn't get my hands on it! I'm sure if I had heard it, it would be my standard! (It's Dame Baker - what else need be said?!?!)

Sadly, this production won't be filmed. I think there will be a production next season in London that is slated for that, but it will be without me. I believe there MAY be a radio broadcast of this later in june - not live, but at least sent over the airwaves - if so, I'll update here!

CHEERS!

FIRST OF ALL, CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU FOR THE MOST BRILLIANT OPERA-EVENING!

You really gave it all and we all were thrilled. You were matching Anna in volume and power all the way, fully dominating Matthew --> I can only imagine how tired you must feel today. It would be really great to have this on DVD. It's one of those relatively rare opera moments I definitely want to keep.

Anna was also in the zone last night : she was even adding the higher notes in the 2nd act.

Matthew Polenzani is def becoming a big name.
The orchestra great with Evelino Pido majestic, and all that on the Carsen-ian scene.

Will return to see it again, whatever the price.

Ah yes, forgot my question :)

Did you (the artists) feel what we (the audience) felt last night -- that we were all part of something special happening in Theatre de la Bastille?

It was a mind-blowing performance, we were all so much into it, dozens of goosbumps, trying hard not to scream "Bravo!"...

Thank you thank you...

Again, thank you everyone - and dolcevita, I think we did feel a great energy from the audience. I've always said performances like this are a "dialogue", and when it's so energetic from the other side of the footlights, I for one, feel even more inspired.
