Gratitude - Day 119

Gratitude - Day 119
I'm grateful for a huge pan of Korean Barbeque'd Legumes!

We had the most delightful dinner out with friends on a tiny square in the Marais and ate ourselves silly. My dish: Broccoli, Carrots, Peppers, Lentils, Peas, Corn, Tomatoes, Cabbage, and probably a few more things thrown in for good measure.

I'm also grateful for the lovely company, to be sure!

Joyce, That yummy looking dish of veggies more than makes up for your Mallomar dinner a few weeks ago! In fact, I think you now have credit for a *future* junk food dinner. ;)

Just came back home... Joyce was BRILLIANT tonight again. Kept the incredible level of intensity from the beginning to the end.
Anna fantastic too. Matthew got sunk by the orchestra a few times but overall was very good.

My impression at the prima is now confirmed, namely the two basses are weaker than the rest of the cast.

As improbable as it may sound, Joyce & Anna sang the last aria tonight even better than at the premiere

BRAVISSIMA!

Dear Joyce,

Last night’s performance was an « emotional tsunami », I guess this is the closest way of expressing my feelings when getting up this morning!! It’s been a spectacular and stunning performance: from the instant you walked onto the stage, I could feel how deeply and intensely you were throwing yourself into Roméo, bringing this wonderful character to life!! To refer to one of your post, I enjoyed every note you were singing, every whisper, sigh and silence, the wonderful cohesion with the unforgettable Anna Netrebko, you were both glowing…

It’s been a hell of an evening and I know that I am very privileged to come 4 more times -:) Yes, you can feel contented, even more… What you are giving to the audience is priceless…
Bonne journée et à samedi !

Lucky you Operafan! I'll let this one go. I so much loved Anna & Joyce combo, and I don't want to spoil it now (don't get me wrong -- I like Patrizia Ciofi; it's just that Joyce & Anna clicked perfectly for me and I don't want to change that for a while :~)

Joyce, I saw on your web-site that you won't sing this Romeo any time soon. THAT is really pity :(

Why wouldn't you record some of these beautiful arias that suit your timbre so impeccably? Add a few Rossinis, plus 2-3 arias from Idomeneo and there you go.
Just saying :-)

Good luck for tonight.

Cheers!

Hi Dolcevita!
YES, I am very lucky, what happened Saturday night was just incredible: the chemistry between Joyce and Patrizia was absolutely intense and emotional, this is what I love so much about opera, every performance is a new one and bringing up new emotions, feelings, thoughts...
A few people around me, who had obviously come mostly for Anna, were the first to raise for the final standing ovation!!

Joyce, I agree with with Dolcevita's suggestion for the recording!!
See you tonight...
